Title: Producing Manager

Description:

The mission of the organization is to celebrate and advance queer representation through theatre written by and about LGBTQ+ persons. StageQ is a volunteer based Participating Theatre Company (PTC) at The Bartell theater in Downtown Madison. The Producing Manager will be responsible for the oversight and coordination of each production throughout the season. Stipend for this position is listed below. 

Term:

The Production Manager is contracted on a show-by-show basis with the opportunity for being contracted for an entire season if desired.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned or changed at the discretion of the Board. 

  • Attend board meetings as a non-voting contributor. (once a month)

  • Oversee all production aspects of the season. Including producing shows or securing producers. 

  • Review show budgets with board treasurer and convey budgets to designers. Track show expenses.

  • Secure rehearsal and build space. 

  • Directly assist on publicity and marketing campaigns by scheduling photo/video shoots, gathering bios, proofing programs, printing programs, and inviting reviewers to performances. 

  • Work with Directors and Stage Managers on auditions and 1st rehearsals. Post and publicize audition notices.

  • Coordinate with directors to secure a full design team and tech team for all productions. 

  • Manage designer access to StageQ resources and storage areas. 

  • Organize and run production meetings. 

  • Work with the Stage Manager to plan and convey load-in, tech, and strike  schedules and expectations.

  • Work with Bartell staff to secure and schedule qualified house managers and ushers.

  • Coordinate and arrange for artist and sponsor comp tickets.

  • Work with directors to announce preview shows to appropriate parties.

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 21yrs of age.

  • Previous production experience preferred.

  • Possess excellent communication and organization skills.

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, confidentiality, interpersonal skills.

  • A commitment to and passion for StageQ’s mission. 

  • Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Possess a Wisconsin driver license in good standing to rent moving trucks for load-in/out.

 

Stipend:

  • Stipend for this position is $1000 per show.

While performing this job, the individual is regularly required to walk and/or stand for periods up to two or more hours. They must possess sufficient eyesight either naturally or with corrected lenses to read scripts, calendars, and schedules. They must have clear speaking ability and sufficient hearing to be able to communicate effectively.  The individual may occasionally be required to climb ladders, move set pieces and perform manual labor on an as-needed basis.  The individual must be able to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
